Final Project - Part 3 - This week I had the change to take pictures while at my parents house. You will see how this helped me this week.

#7 - Convention - One of the best ways for me to meet my kind of people is to go to conventions. Here are some things showing off the first two conventions I went to. The first one is Vermont Comic Con, which was in September and my first convention. The next one is Bakuretsu Con, which was in October. I enjoyed this convention the most.

#8 - Japanese - The Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise is a Japanese franchise, so after watching some episode in Japanese I wanted to learn the language. Here we have a list of some words that I have learned so far. I would say not bad for a beginner.

#9 - Switching majors - The Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise has also surprisingly made me want to switch my major. I used to be going for an acting major, since I wanted to become an actress, but I switched my major to art, so that I can become an artist. Here I am trying to make it look like I am practing lines. The reason I am in front of a mirror is, so that later I can edit this picture. This was taken at my parents house, since I wanted a big mirror and they have one.

Week 2. Final Project Portraits. I gave some of my portrait photos a
happier tone to them, this is one of them.

Week 2. Final Project. Portraits. With the great depth of field in this photo
I gave my subject a simple background so it wouldn't distract the viewer from the
                            main subject.

Final Project - Part 2 - This week I took pictures of things that would be a little more difficult to photograph, but none the less they are things that were a blast to photograph.

#4 - Cosplayer - A cosplayer is someone who dresses up in a costume. If you got to an anime, comic book, manga, or video game game based convention you will finds lots of cosplayers. We pride ourselves on are attention to detail and the quality of are cosplays. Here I am cosplaying Mutou Yuugi from the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise. I was inspired by pictures I saw of other cosplayers sitting on stairs or this kind of view in this picture.

#5 - Anime - The Yu-Gi-Oh! anime is how I got introduced to the franchise. Here I tried to capture myself watching one of the episodes. This was a hard picture to pull off, but good thing I have a timer on my camera. It has been very helpful for this final project and I am getting better at using it.

#6 - Drawing - The Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise inspired me to pick up a new hobby: Drawing. Since then I have been drawing and I now want to become an artist. Working off of a suggestion that someone in class gave me on one of my first pictures I took for the class, I decided to start one of the drawings I was going to start during winter break. This drawing is going to be for one of my favorite artist on the website called deviantART, which I am apart of. That site has not only kept me connected with the art world, but also I have made new friends on there, because of it.

Final project - Part 1 - I had one idea for my final to take pictures of cosplayers (They are pretty much people who dress up in costumes and go to conventions or dress up for fun), however, since I am not going to a convention any time soon I thought of another idea.

My theme is "Franchise that changed my life." This is a theme I am pretty set on doing as I already have ideas for other pictures I could take for this theme. Each of my eight pictures will be representing something new I learned to do or something that because of this franchise has changed my life. The Franchise I am refering to is: Yu-Gi-Oh!

#1 - Hero - Mutou Yuugi - Yuugi here is my new hero in life. Fictional hero that is, so I thought taking a picture of him would be perfect, since I have learned a lot from him.

#2 - Manga - It was, because of a friend I met (She loves Yu-Gi-Oh! too) who convinced me to read the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga. Here I am showing which way to read the manga, since you read Japanese manga different from English comics and books. You read from back to front and right to left.

#3 - Dueling (Trading card game) The characters in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime play a trading card game called Duel Monsters. After watching them duel many times I wanted to become a duelist too (That is what people are called who play this game). Here I have lots of different cards spread out to give a sense of what some of the cards look like.

Kristen Jensen - Final Week 1

For this week in exploring topics for my final project I chose to find photographs from decades (and in some cases of a century) ago, and then try recreating those images to show the locations in modern day. This is a photojournalist approach to seeing what time has and has not changed.

The following photos are of locations in Milton, Vermont, the town I have resided in for the past 15 years. In the weeks to come I may go outside of Milton, in which it will be noted accordingly.

Location #1. United Church, located on Main Street in 1905, and one-hundred and ten years later. Structure of the church has remained the same, despite the change on surrounding land.

Location #2. Milton Co-Operative Creamery, located on Railroad Street in 1919 and ninety-six years later. Product of the Milton Cooperative Dairy Corporation, the creamery was opened in 1919, and was closed in 1974. The creamery is significantly different from it's opening state, with additions to the building during the 1930s, as well as vandalism and Mother Nature after it's closure.

Location #3: Soldier's Monument, School Street outside of the Milton Historical Society, in 1909 and one-hundred and six years later. Paying tribute to those fallen during the Civil War, the monument originally stood at the intersection of Main Street and River Street before its relocation to School Street.
